Vigil and Rosary funeral leaflet

Create a clear Vigil leaflet with optional Rosary details

Give guests the Vigil time, place, sequence, references, music, and family information they need before the Funeral Liturgy. If the family will pray a Rosary before or after the Vigil, its time and leader can appear clearly as a separate optional devotion.

The Vigil and Rosary remain distinct, and the parish confirms the form used.

Keep the Vigil and Rosary clearly distinguished

The Vigil for the Deceased is a liturgical prayer service centered on Scripture, prayer, intercession, and support for mourners. The Rosary is an optional family devotion that may occur before or after it; the leaflet does not present the Rosary as a required replacement for the Vigil.

02

Reuse details instead of typing them again

The person’s name, portrait, dates, location, family note, and chosen theme can flow from the funeral project into a one-sheet leaflet. Vigil-specific readings, music, leaders, and timing remain separate from the Funeral Liturgy selections.

  • Vigil date, time, and place
  • Optional Rosary timing, leader, traditional prayers, and mysteries
  • Scripture references and ministers
  • Family remembrance or practical note
03

Reference-first and parish-reviewable

The leaflet may organize approved references and titles without redistributing protected ritual books, Lectionary wording, or copyrighted music. Exact text appears only from an authorized source or after a parish or presider supplies it and the organizer confirms permission.

04

A compact output for a separate gathering

Download the leaflet independently when the wake or Vigil is held at a different time or location. The main funeral booklet remains focused on the central celebration while the people attending the Vigil receive a clear handout of their own.

Questions

What families ask

Is a Rosary the same as the Vigil for the Deceased?

No. The Vigil is part of the Catholic funeral rites. A Rosary is an optional devotion and may accompany the gathering according to family wishes and local pastoral guidance.

Is the Vigil leaflet a separate file from the Funeral Mass booklet?

Yes. When the Vigil is included in the funeral plan, the builder creates a separate folded Vigil handout as well as keeping the Vigil clearly identified in the complete program.

Does the program include the traditional Rosary prayers?

Yes. When the Rosary is selected, the main program adds a clearly separate devotional section with the Sign of the Cross, Apostles’ Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Hail Holy Queen, prayer for eternal rest, and all four sets of mysteries. This does not replace the parish-confirmed Vigil or supply copyrighted funeral-rite text.

Who confirms the Vigil order?

The parish, presider, or other responsible Catholic minister confirms the form, readings, ministers, music, and local adaptations.
