How the readings fit into the funeral liturgy
A Funeral Mass or Funeral Liturgy Outside Mass ordinarily places the First Reading, Responsorial Psalm, optional Second Reading, Gospel Acclamation, and Gospel within the Liturgy of the Word. A homily and General Intercessions follow. Nonbiblical poetry does not replace the readings in this part of the liturgy.

Responsorial Psalm references

Gospel Acclamation verse references

How many readings are chosen for a Catholic funeral?

Can a poem replace a Bible reading?
The Liturgy of the Word uses biblical readings. Poems and other personal texts may be more suitable at the Vigil, reception, or another family gathering, subject to local guidance.
Are the first readings different during Easter Time?
